Srinivasa Srigiri

Currently, his focus is on analysis of conditions for coordination among actors across sectors and levels for effective implementation of the One Health approach in different country contexts.

Applying the analytical lens of polycentric governance, with a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, his PhD focused on institutions of collective action for resource protection and poverty reduction in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Later in his postdoctoral research, he conducted institutional analyses for climate change adaptation and mitigation in different sectors for sustainability of the megacity of Hyderabad. Besides conducting the research for exploring options for sustainability transformations in governance of common property resources in India, he was responsible for stakeholder engagement and institutional analysis several transdisciplinary and action research projects. 

At IDOS, he was until recently engaged with the work package focusing on ‘water-energy-food nexus under the conditions of climate change’ within the interdisciplinary research project “Implementing the 2030 Agenda: Integrating Growth, Environment, Equality and Governance” financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.  Prior to IDOS, he held research positions at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in India, and Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) and Humboldt University Berlin in Germany.  Geographically, he focused so far on semi-arid tropical regions in India and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Biography

Srinivasa Srigiri is a senior researcher of Environmental Governance at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS), based in Bonn. He received his PhD in Agricultural Economics from the Humboldt University Berlin. His main research interests include analysis of institutions and governance for – sustainability of natural resources, poverty reduction, climate resilient smallholder agriculture and water, energy, food, ecosystems (WEFE) nexus securities.
