S he is also a honorary professor at Leuphana University.] With a PhD in Economics and an MSc in Environmental Engineering, Dr Dombrowsky’s work is rooted in institutional economics and political science. Her research focuses on coordination, cooperation and integration in environmental and natural resource governance across levels, sectors, actor types and scales. Topics include multi-level environmental governance, water governance, transboundary water management, governing the water-energy-food-ecosystems nexus, just energy transitions and policy coherence for the integrated implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
She has worked with the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research UFZ (2001-2010), the World Bank (1997-2001) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) (1995-1997). Dr Dombrowsky has in-depth experience in inter- and trans-disciplinary research, with research and advisory projects on natural resources governance in Jordan and Mongolia, and transboundary cooperation related to hydropower between Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. She has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and two books, and participated in the acquisition of about 14 research projects. Dr Dombrowsky has advised German ministries engaged in international cooperation and ministries abroad where she conducts field research and co-organized side events at UNFCCC COPs. Dr Dombrowsky is a co-PI and co-leads with Prof Boran the deep-dive studies, closely collaborating with the project’s Africa and Central America team.
