Connecting Forests and Wetlands to Climate Adaptation in East Africa

On February 2, the world marked World Wetlands Day, highlighting the essential role wetlands play in sustaining ecosystems, livelihoods, and human health. Our partner Africa Research & Impact Network (ARIN) commemorated the occasion with a blog underscoring a shared understanding across our work: wetland health is deeply interconnected with forests, rivers, and the communities that depend on these systems.

We are proud of our partnership with ARIN, whose expertise and regional leadership are central to this project. Through our collaborative activities—including the Kakamega and the Kenya workshops—and ARIN’s ongoing work in the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB), we are contributing to the protection and health of wetlands in the region.
